    Hello Members!

Looking for insight and suggestions for avoiding or managing tariffs on our auto and engine parts.

We are on the east coast and have the option of ordering from American suppliers and having items shipped to the border, then us, go gather the parts on the US side, register and claim all items at the Canadian Border Services kiosk, and avoid all or most tariffs. This is not an ideal option, its labor intensive with the travel time, Fuel and Vehicle costs/wear but an option. However, when we order through our Canadian Distributors and Suppliers, we encounter the tariff charges. We are all suffering a penalty to do business within Canada, I have questions, should we all contact our MP’s? Should we start a petition as a group of Canadian Small Businesses and present “them” with our challenges and concerns? CFIB?? Anyone a member with that group an has had any clarification? Please don’t hesitate to call us or reply to this post. We can all benefit from communication on this tariff topic.

Here in Canada, in the engine parts business, we are most fortunate that the large majority of our sourced engine parts currently are not tariffed. Relative to you ordering and picking engine parts up at the border on the US side, and then declaring them as you cross into Canada, with little to no tariff, I would go out on a limb and say that that will likely soon change!
Certainly, in my opinion, contacting your MP’s and voicing your business concerns, is always a worthy initiative!!
    Bill
