On Saturday August 25, the association held its fourth golf outing and social function in St. Catharines Ontario. The E.R.I. golfing-gods were looking down on our southern Ontario invitational golf day. Just before leaving for the Royal Niagara Golf Club, the skies darkened and the rain cascaded down. St. Catharines was pounded by a severe storm and the winds were howling. Never worrying for a minute, Mr. Miller confidently told the twenty four golfers assembled for the event that an E.R.I. golf day never gets rained out! Onto the bus went the twenty three doubting Thomases. The course was a ten minute ride from the hotel under normal conditions, the monsoon slowed traffic. To our surprise, (and when do you ever question Rick) the skies cleared when we arrived at the course. The wind was strong, but so was the determination of the six foursomes. The course was in fabulous condition, and a great day was had by all.
The cocktail party and dinner at the Quality Hotel Parkway Convention Centre was wonderful. Forty five members, spouses, and suppliers gathered for the evening. It was nice to see that some members brought their employees to participate in the evenings festivities. Mr. Miller and Mr. Dolmage carefully scrutinized the scores from the golfers and prizes were awarded to all. The longest drive competition was won by Roger Estep of Rol\Corteco Manufacturing. Roger drove from Toledo Ohio to be with the group! Shortest drive won the short end of the stick; too bad for Terry Thomas of The Balancing Act, he drove 1km, but his smiling face and sporting nature were greatly appreciated.
Some war stories from the day golfing were shared over dinner and drinks, and some war stories about work snuck into the conversations too. These events provide a wonderful opportunity to chat with suppliers and fellow members in a casual setting. All who attend will attest to gains they receive by participating
